Coffee Fortune SUbmission W/ Turkish Coffee & CEzve

Requirements

Cezve (Copper Pot, pronounced: ‘Jez-ve’ some also call it ‘Ibrik’)

Finely Ground Arabica Coffee

Cup & Saucer

Step 1

Fill your favorite coffee or tea cup all the way with water (ice cold for best results), and dump it into your cezve.

This allows us to properly measure our water to coffee ratio. An average cup should have about 3oz of water.

Step 2

Set the cezve on the stovetop, and crank the dial to a low to medium heat.

Ideally, the coffee shouldn’t take more than 5 minutes to prepare, otherwise you will begin to lose foam — which is where both future and flavor lies!

Step 3

Now, let’s add a hearty spoonful of Arabica coffee into the cezve. We’re talking about 1/2 teaspoon of coffee for every 3 ounces of ice cold water.

Step 4

Stir for 7 seconds until the coffee dissolves beautifully.

Step 5

Once the coffee percolates — forming a chocolatey and foamy layer on top — you know you’re almost there!

Step 6

As bubbles form on the edge of cezve, turn off the stove, and pour your coffee into your cup and enjoy.

If you’d like a fortune reading from Dr. Honeybrew, then keep reading!

Step 7

Once you reach the muddy bits inside of your cup, you are ready for the flip!

Do not drink all of the mud! It may be tradition for some of our Greek brothers and sisters to do this, but for a fortune reading — the mud at the base is necessary to be kept! Don’t drink your future…

Step 8

Fasten the saucer over the cup, and flip.

But don’t spill any coffee on yourself, or your beautiful clothes!

Step 9

Wait 5 minutes for the grinds to cool.

Step 10

Take a photograph, and upload it here for Dr. Honebyrew!
